HeART of Gaza

More than 50,000 children have now been reportedly killed or injured in the Gaza Strip since October 2023. As UNICEF Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, Edouard Beigbeder, recently stated:

“These children – lives that should never be reduced to numbers – are now part of a long, harrowing list of unimaginable horrors: the grave violations against children, the blockade of aid, the starvation, the constant forced displacement, and the destruction of hospitals, water systems, schools, and homes. In essence, the destruction of life itself in the Gaza Strip.”

In the midst of this catastrophe, ‘HeART of Gaza’ is an art project working with young Palestinians across Gaza, giving a platform to the most voiceless, the most vulnerable, and the most impacted in this genocide. Through the art they produce, the children ask us to bear witness to their terror, weariness, and loss, but also to their resilience and determination as they cling on to childhood, celebrating friendship, family, hobbies and even pets.

In order to further support these children, particularly the many who are now suffering the effects of extreme trauma, Mandala Trust are funding a pilot project providing psychological support to these children by trained Palestinian psychologists on the ground.
